NATIONAL ACCREDITATION and
STANDARDS COUNCIL FOR PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS
The NASCPI was formed because private investigator licensing authorities refuse to establish adequate qualifying criteria for the issuance of licenses. The consequence to this practice is that most consumers of private investigative services are misled into a false sense of belief. Although its reasonable for you to believe that all private investigators, because they are "licensed by the State", have special skills and qualifications, you should not assume this. Many, in-fact, may not be licensed private investigators but rather, “trainees” or “associates” working under the authority of an absentee licensed private investigator or company and paid minimal wages. The NASCPI does not accredit these investigators.
Did you know that a private investigator actually performing your investigative needs may, in-fact, have a criminal arrest history, not graduated from high school, be physically impaired and incapable of performing the services, have no prior experience or continuing education requirements or, perhaps no license at all ? It’s true ! The NASCPI does not accredit these investigators.
The NASCPI is transforming private investigations from an industry to a profession and from inferior service to superior. This is accomplished through stringent application and accreditation processes, requiring formal education, qualifying professional law enforcement and private investigations experience, certified continuing education and mandatory physical abilities.
The NASCPI is not an association that private investigators can affiliate themselves with or claim “expertise” or “certification” by simply paying membership dues. The NASCPI developed and administers 19 chapters of standards that include approximately 200 mandatory standards a private investigator must work toward and meet to receive accreditation. The NASCPI maintains the authority to revoke a private investigator's accredited status for standard(s) violations.
A private investigator's NASCPI status, photograph and detailed resume are available to you as an affiliate of the NASCPI or client of Spectrum Advantage Group.
